How acupuncture works

Acupuncture is an evidence based medicine that has been developed for over 2500 years and is one of the oldest, most commonly used healing systems in the world. It involves the insertion of thin, solid, sterile needles into specific points of the body. There are over 2000 points on the body that can be accessed and each with a unique function.

Although ancient, now modern science can help explain how acupuncture works. Acupuncture needles work like a prompt to the body systems to restore homeostasis and balance. Connective tissues wind around the needles, increases electrical conductivity. This communication results in the natural systems of the body dilating blood vessels, increasing blood flow and circulation, decreasing inflammation and providing nutrient rich fluid to aid areas of the body that are deficient or dysfunctional.
